How much does it cost to attend the festival?

*For the events and workshops around Calgary (on August 10, 11, and 12, 2016) the events are free or by donation.  This means no tickets are necessary.

For the concert on August 13 at Prince’s Island Park, the costs are as follows:

  • $15 Student/Youth
  • $20 Adult
  • Children 12 and under and adults 65 and over receive free admission
  • Early bird ticket prices available online. $15 for Adult, $12 for Student/Youth

**Must present valid ID for age discounts

Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets will be available online here. Tickets are also available at the Afrikadey! Arts & Culture Society (AACS) Office and at the gate at Prince’s Island Park. 

I bought my ticket online. What do I do now?
Proceed to the main gate at Prince’s Edward Park on August 13, with a copy of your receipt. You must show your ID.

I am an artist. Can I play at the Afrikadey! Festival?

How do I get to Prince’s Island Park?
Prince’s Island Park is located at 698 Eau Claire Ave SW, Calgary, AB. The location can be accessed through multiple bus routes, biking, walking, or driving.

Is there parking available?
There is no parking available on Prince’s Island itself, however, there is street and lot parking in the area surrounding the Park. Please see the Calgary Parking website for a map of available parking:

Can I become a vendor?
Yes, please check out our vendor page for more information. 

Can I volunteer?
Yes! We rely on hard working volunteers every year to help run the Afrikadey! Festival. More information can be found here.

Can I bring chairs, blankets, etc.?
Yes. While there are picnic tables around Prince’s Island Park, you are more than welcome to bring chairs to help you enjoy the festivities. 

Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Festival attendees are able to bring water into the Park, however other beverages or outside food are not permitted at the Festival. We have a wide variety of food vendors that offer an assortment of authentic and delicious food.  

If I leave Prince’s Island Park, can I get into back into the Afrikadey! Festival later?
Yes, you will be given a stamp to get back in. 

Can I bring my pet?
No, unfortunately pets are not permitted on the grounds. 

How do I know which artists are playing when?
A schedule will be posted to the website in early August outlining the times for each performance. 

I lost something! Do you have a lost & found?
Lost items will be held at the front gate on August 13. Following this they will be held at the AACS office, to allow time for people to claim their belongings.

Will the concert still run if it is raining?
Yes, the concert will run rain or shine. 

Can I take photos or recordings of the artists?
Festival attendees are allowed to take photos of the artists; recordings of the artists are not permitted.
